Dcpaw -- D.C. Poets Against the War

About Dcpaw
English (USA)

This list has been created by DC Poets Against the War (DCPAW) as a forum for poets in the group and all those who are interested in contributing to current and future activities.

DC Poets Against the War is a group of Washington-area writers and activists who came together during the winter of 2003 to protest the planned U.S. invasion of Iraq. We have held open readings at churches, cultural centers, in parks, on street corners, and on the Mall. The group represents the many traditions in American poetry: avant-garde poetry, hip hop and other forms of spoken word, narrative/lyrical and New Formalist poetry. There are poets who work in the academy, poets who work in the community, well-known poets and poets just starting out.

The group continues to organize anti-war readings and publications and we are exploring additional ways to support engaged poetry and creative activism in the Washington area.

We hope this list will serve as a focal point for those poets with similar inclinations who are interested in joining our cause and participating in our events. We will use it to send announcements, solicit ideas and create momentum in the growing anti-war movement.
