UPDATED Dec 2007
This list is used so that people interested in participating in A vegetarian/vegan community kitchen every Sunday at 11AM at the Bethel field house in St. Lukes Park, Ottawa Ontario Canada can contact us and find out how to get involved.
The Bethel Feild House is located at 166 Frank St. in St. Lukes Park at the corner of Elgin St. and Frank St. behind the second cup In Ottawa.
We start to cook at 11 am at the Bethel field house, anyone is welcome to come and help or to bring donations of food.
As of January 2005 we must ask for an informal 1$ donation to cover the cost of renting our cooking and serving space from the the city of Ottawa, to buy supplies and pay for our monthly Good Food Box.
As of the Fall 2006, in order to keep going we require people to actively participate in the kitchen and commit 2.5 hours of their time to the kitchen each week that they show up.
why? because everyone has something to contribute and everyone is useful and needed.
Ideally we are looking for people to come out on a somewhat regular basis.
This makes the kitchen more enjoyable for all and ensures that we continue to serve every Sunday as we have done now for over ten years in Ottawa.
It also empowers everyone, creates a collective, community atmosphere,an equal distribution of work and creates multiple leaders and nurturers.
This incarnation of food not bombs Ottawa has operated non-stop for over four years now.
We are the Ottawa Peace Kitchen.
We operate in the spirit of Food not Bombs and are always evolving and learning from our experiences.
