Most Iraqis refer to the Iraqi Resistance as "patriots." Which of course
most of them are-they are, especially in Fallujah, primarily composed of
people who simply are resisting the occupation of their country by a foreign
power. They are people who have had family members killed, detained,
tortured and humiliated by the illegal occupiers of their shattered country.
Calling them "foreign terrorists" and "Ba'athist insurgents" is simply a
lie.

Terrorism: No Name Death from the Sky

Marines that recently attacked Fallujah. How absurd! There is no such thing
as a "gentleman's war" not by any stretch of the imagination. Where is the
so-called "moral high-ground" when you drop a bomb on a house and blow up
children. Where is the moral high-ground when a sniper puts a bullet in the
head of a 6-year-old? Where is the moral high-ground when a hospital is used
as a base of combat operations while people, children bleed to death from
their wounds because they can't get medical treatment?

Five Years After the Battle for Seattle: The Seattle Weekly trashes the
anti-globalization movement

The media spin machine in recent years has added a new component to coverage
of the anti-globalization movement - questions about the state of the
movement and whether or not the movement is "dead." This shallow and
superficial measure of dissent and movement strength relies on old myths
that dissent is best judged by how much coverage it gets on the television
news. In other words, if the movement isn't rioting, then it is "declining"
or "beginning to sputter," to use Geov Parrish's words. In reality,
contemporary anti-systemic movements can't be judged solely by the amount of
press clippings they get. There is more going on that doesn't lend itself to
the sensational gaze of the TV news camera.

trial for what happened that night. Even though Union Carbide's own safety
experts had warned two years before of a "serious potential for sizable
releases of toxic materials," the managers of the Bhopal factory had no
system in place to warn and evacuate residents in the event of emergency.
Indian government officials likewise failed to insist upon such basic
precautions. And as thousands of survivors streamed into local hospitals
that night, Union Carbide spokesmen actively denied that methyl isocyanate
was poisonous, calling it "nothing more than a potent tear gas."

Independent journalists have been reporting for some time now that the US
has been using banned weapons in Falluja. Iraqi doctors have noted that many
of the bodies they have examined have been "swollen, yellowish and have no
smell." Asia Times online has reported that "Americans used chemical weapons
in the bombing of Jolan, ash-Shuhada and al-Jubayl neighborhoods. They also
say the neighborhoods were showered with cluster bombs"; an allegation that
refutes the Pentagon's claim of "precision bombing".
