War Crimes: Video Showing Massacre of Civilians in Fallujah
Stan Goff comments: "The "tell" is in the audio. When the pilot asks permission to fire, he reports a large number of people. not armed people. People. And permission is granted instantly. This is an indication that the mission guidance is to shoot anyone who is in the street. This is a clear war crime, and one that begins with the commander's stated intent in the operations order. The pilot's exclamation of satisfaction, "Aw dude!" at the end just underlines how this casual sadism comes to dominate the psyches of those who are part of a military occupation force, and how the ground reality become "race war.""
How to Avoid Becoming an Anti-American
By M. Junaid Alam
A specter is haunting America - the specter of anti-Americanism. All the powers of patriotic America have entered into a corporate alliance to exorcise this specter: draft-deferrers and women-gropers, grammar-challenged and duel-challengers, oil diggers and grave diggers. It is the duty of all upstanding American citizens to fully understand and identify the leading symptoms of anti-Americanism, so that our homes, homeless shelters, reading chambers, torture chambers, chocolate refineries, weapons factories, and places of worship, such as churches, temples, and Wall Street, are completely free from the poison of anti-war sentiment.
Soviets "R" US
by Zbignew Zingh
There is a popular perception among Americans -- a perception nurtured by our culture conformity machines -- that the Cold War was worth the effort, and that the outcome was a foregone conclusion because "we" had the superior political, economic and social systems and "they" had inferior ones. That is, so goes the popular wisdom, "we" are still here as the Cold War victors, and "they", the Soviet losers, have disappeared. However, although the Soviet Union is truly gone, has not its DNA gotten into us?
Iraq: The Massacres Continue as "Democracy-Building"
By Ghali Hassan, Information Clearing House
The indiscriminate slaughter of Iraqi citizens in Fallujah, Najaf, Baghdad, Tel Afar, Kut and other Iraqi cities, the outrageous treatment of Iraqi prisoners of war and civilian detainees, and the destruction of the nation of Iraq have not registered in the Moral consciousness of the "civilised" Western world. The US and its "coalition" alleged that its moral "messianic mission" is to promote and "build" democracy and end dictatorships around the world. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Our Heroic Baby Killers
By Dave Lindorff, CounterPunch
We know now what our "heroic" troops in Iraq have been up to-and why they are so wildly unpopular there. Thanks to an investigation by the Iraqi Ministry of Health, we now know that the U.S. military not only kills more civilians than rebels; it also kills more civilians than the rebels do.

A land where roots run deeper than oil
By Paul Watson, Dawn
Nagaland state sits on a multibillion-dollar reserve that would give this energy-hungry country some relief from high global oil prices, fueled in part by India's growing thirst for foreign crude. Imports are expected to rise 11 per cent in the next year. Despite decades of pressure, and the promise of great wealth, the Naga tribes have refused to allow anyone to develop the oil fields, which could yield as many as 85 million barrels of petroleum.
High noon for oil and gas, twilight for suburbia?
by Adam Fenderson, Energy Bulletin
Suburbia is absolutely built on the automobile. It's physically constructed around it. It can't operate without automobiles. It won't work to human scale. It won't work to walking scale. It seems to be an utterly disastrous system which has been put down at a great cost of money, energy and environment.
How Bush's grandfather helped Hitler's rise to power
By Ben Aris and Duncan Campbell, The Guardian
George Bush's grandfather, the late US senator Prescott Bush, was a director and shareholder of companies that profited from their involvement with the financial backers of Nazi Germany. The Guardian has obtained confirmation from newly discovered files in the US National Archives that a firm of which Prescott Bush was a director was involved with the financial architects of Nazism.
>From Clinton to Bush: Bi-Partisan Arrogance and Imperial Forays
By Joshua Frank, Left Hook
Despite what John Kerry may say along the campaign trail, the Democratic Party is largely to blame for laying the groundwork the Republican hawks needed to justify attacking Iraq and waging Bush's greater "war on terror."
The Reign of Lies
By Chris Floyd, Moscow Times
How many times must the truth be told before it conquers the lies? Again and again, the brutal realities behind the rape of Iraq -- that it was planned years ago, that the aggressors knew full well that their justifications for war were false and that their invasion would lead to chaos, ruin and unbridled terror -- have been exposed by the very words and documents of the invaders themselves. Yet the reign of the lie goes on, rolling toward its final entrenchment in November.
Momma, Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Cannon Fodder
By Karyn Strickler, CounterPunch
Mrs. Neiderer was never a fan of the war, but when she heard that the entire "weapons of mass destruction" justification for going to war was a sham, she told Elizabeth Weill-Greenberg during an interview for CounterPunch, "I wanted to rip the president's head off. Curse him, yell at him, call him a self righteous bastard and a lot of other words. I think if I had him in front of me I would shoot him in the groin area. Let him suffer...Put him through misery, like he's doing to everyone else. He doesn't deserve any better."
Abuse, Torture and Rape Reported at Unlisted U.S.-run Prisons in Iraq
by Lisa Ashkenaz Croke, New Standard
American legal investigators have discovered evidence of abuse, torture and rape throughout the US-run prison system in Iraq. A Michigan legal team meeting with former detainees in Baghdad during an August fact-finding mission gathered evidence supporting claims of prisoner abuse at some 25 US-run detention centers, most of them so far not publicly mentioned as being embroiled in the Iraq torture scandal.
