Alternative Press Review - Your Guide Beyond the Mainstream
www.altpr.org
January 20, 2005

"One of the things I've suggested is that it may be that more 9/11s are
necessary. This seems like such a no-brainer that I hate to frame it in
terms of actual transformation of consciousness. 'Hey those brown-skinned
folks dying in the millions in order to maintain this way of life, they can
wait forever for those who purport to be the opposition here to find some
personally comfortable and pure manner of affecting the kind of
transformation that brings not just lethal but genocidal processes to a
halt.' They have no obligation-moral, ethical, legal or otherwise-to sit on
their thumbs while the opposition here dithers about doing anything to
change the system. So it's removing the sense of-and right to-impunity from
the American opposition." - Ward Churchill

"It is absurd to condemn the resistance to the U.S. occupation in Iraq as
being masterminded by terrorists or insurgents or supporters of Saddam
Hussein. After all, if the United States were invaded and occupied, would
everybody who fought to liberate it be a terrorist or an insurgent or a
Bushite? The Iraqi resistance is fighting on the front lines of the battle
against Empire. And therefore, that battle is our battle." - Arundhati Roy

Vaginas in Mythology, Art, and History
By Kirsten Anderberg

Much as breasts have become a market commodity, vaginas have suffered a
similar fate. Girls, women, boys, and men, are given little to no empowering
imagery, mythology or language within American culture, regarding vaginas
and female genitals.

Tsunami, Humanity and the Canadian Saga of "Terrorism" Myth
By Mahboob A. Khawaja, Ph.D.

Last week, British author Adam Curtis ("The Power of Nightmares: The Rise of
the Politics of Fear", BBC documentary challenging the American version of
'War on Terrorism'), said it well: "international terrorism is a fantasy
that has been exaggerated and distorted by politicians. It is a dark
illusion that has spread unquestioned through governments around the world,
the security services and the international media." In an age of knowledge,
wisdom and human respect, Khawaja family is the latest victims of this 'dark
illusion'; a political fraud intended to glue the Muslims to terrorism myth.

Oxman on Ortleb: The Interview and Vice Reversa
by Richard Oxman

In Robin Scovill's recent documentary, 'The Other Side of AIDS,' the good
doctor had the guts to say what many of his AIDS colleagues are thinking:
'As far as I am concerned, and I hope this is adequately represented, those
who attempt to dispel the notion that HIV is the cause of AIDS are
perpetrators of death. And I for one would very much like to see the
Constitution of the United States and similar countries have some means in
place that we can charge people who are responsible for endangering public
health with charges of endangerment and bring them up on trial. I think that
people like [AIDS dissenter scientist] Peter Duesberg belong in jail.'" As
you can see, questioning the AIDS establishment is a risky business.

The food bubble facing imminent collapse
Dr. Mae-Wan Ho, ISIS

The news media have been filled with reports of heat waves, floods,
droughts, hurricanes, accelerated melting of the polar ice caps and sea
levels rising. And yet, they may be missing the most serious consequence of
climate change that's staring us in the face: a collapse of food production
on a global scale; or as Lester Brown of Earth Policy Institute puts it,
"the bursting of the food bubble".

Award-winning Indian writer and global justice activist Arundhati Roy got to
the heart of the issue in a San Francisco speech on August 16: "It is absurd

invaded and occupied, would everybody who fought to liberate it be a

The election that just took place in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip
has been hailed as a great democratic achievement and breakthrough for the
region. It is actually no more than a thin layer of light shaving foam which
will soon be blown away by the strong winds of reality.
