Bankruptcy, prisons and work
By Seth Sandronsky
The bankruptcy reform bill that President Bush just signed into law will do
more than discipline those who live riotously on loans without paying them
back in full. Think for a moment about new prisons to house the indebted.
This trend will expand investment opportunities. Surely, Wall Street is
salivating at the thought of housing incarcerated debtors.

Back to the Ancient Future
By Joe Bageant
For those willing to contemplate the subject, there is a scientifically
supported model of the timeline of our return to Stone Age tribal units. A
roadmap to the day when we will be cutting up dog meat with a sharpened cd
rom disc in some toxic future canyon. It is called the Olduvai Theory.

Why America needs to be Defeated in Iraq
Mike Whitney, Axis of Logic
The greatest moral quandary of our day is whether we, as Americans, support
the Iraqi insurgency. It's an issue that has caused anti-war Leftists the
same pangs of conscience that many felt 30 years ago in their opposition to
the Vietnam War. The specter of disloyalty weighs heavily on all of us, even
those who've never been inclined to wave flags or champion the notion of
American "Exceptionalism". For myself, I can say without hesitation that I
support the insurgency, and would do so even if my only 21 year old son was
serving in Iraq. There's simply no other morally acceptable option.

WHO HAS THE WMD'S? WE DO
Jim Moore, Etherzone
There's something bizarre going on here. We've hunted for three years for
weapons of mass destruction which we swore over and over that Iraq had, but
didn't; while all along we've been using WMD's---lethal chemical
weapons---not only on the Iraqi people, but on our own soldiers, who can't
help getting in the way.

Stalag America
M. Kane Jeeves, mkanejeeves.com
Our economy may be stagnant, our civil rights may be shrinking, our elected
representatives may be sub-par, but we Americans finally have something to
crow about. Our prison population, already the largest in the world, reached
a new high of more than 2.1 million last year! Translation: one out of every
138 residents of the U.S. is locked up! Way to go! We're number one! We
rock, Dude!
