(1) Queer Kiss-in Monday July 2nd
(2) Pervers/Cité: A RADICAL QUEER answer to Pride
(3) July 1st Anti-Canada Day Action

.............................
(1) Queer Kiss-In next Monday, July 2nd 3:00pm (Duluth & St. Laurent)

This past Monday a local queer/trans girl was physically assaulted in
broad daylight at the corner of Duluth & St. Laurent. She was
blind-sided by a punch in the nose that was hard enough to knock her
off her feet and draw blood. The only assumed reason is her
gender-variance/perceived queerness! In an effort to make herself, and
all other queer/trans
folk in this city feel safe in the streets again she is calling for a
kiss-in to happen at that exact corner at that exact time (3:00pm) on
Monday, July 2nd, 2007. Queer & Queer-Positive folks are being asked
to show up with a partner (or two or three) in tow to kiss when the
clock strikes 3:15. Your support is appreciated!

CALL-OUT TO GROUPS/INDIVIDUALS

NEXT MEETING...
Thursday, June 28th
6:30 p.m.
at the 2110 Centre
(2110 Mackay: Guy/Concordia metro)
...............................
:::::::::::::::::::::
This summer, Q-Team wants to bring together a coalition of radical queer
individuals and groups to organize a series of events, workshops, panel
discussions, and actions to coincide with Divers/Cité. The aim of the
series would be to address issues normally pushed to the margins by the
mainstream gay agenda.
::::::::::::::::::::::

WHY WE'RE CONTACTING YOU...
Q-Team would like to invite you/
your organization to be apart of Pervers/Cité!!!

We envision the series being planned by a central organizing committee
which would be made up of representatives from various participating groups
along with interested folks who are flyin' solo.

The central organizing committee would be responsible for logistics, like
getting a space, doing promotion, fundraising, etc. The content of the
workshops would then either be coordinated by the central organizing
committee (planning panels) or created by individual groups (topics
decided by the group or in collaboration with the organizing committee).

Here is an incomplete list of ideas of possible events for Pervers/Cité
(which we came up with at the first meeting):

Party
Art Show
Film Screening
Prison Support
Queer & Trans Migrant Issues
Sporting Events
Queer Media (esp. radio?)
Zine workshops (esp. hands-on?)
Queer History Tours
Panel of activists from the 60's, 70's, and 80's
Corporate Pride & Sponsorship
History of the Village
Queer &Trans Grassroots Initiatives Panel
More Out Against the Occupation
Trans & Queer Gentrification
Trans and Queer Youth
The Language of Queerness (esp. accessible language)
Censorship (at the border)
Mental Health
History of L'Androgyne
Dis/ability in Trans and Queer Communities

If you or your group think this idea is exciting, HERE'S THE NEXT STEP...
.. if you're not yet on the "pink and black" email list (the one we've set
up to coordinate all this business), email us ( qteam at riseup.net) to add you!
.. if you want to come to the next meeting, email us ( qteam at riseup.net) to
let us know so that we have an idea of who's coming,
.. if you can't make the meeting but you/your group wants to be involved,
send us an email ( qteam at riseup.net ) about to let us know & include some
info. (eg. your group's idea for a workshop).

-- We demand that CN Rail drop their racist lawsuit against Mohawk
activists at Tyendinaga;
-- We stand in support and solidarity with indigenous struggles for
sovereignty and self-determination all over Turtle Island;
-- We denounce CN Rail's role in the corporate North American
Competitiveness Council and the Security and Prosperity Partnership
(SPP).

"When justice fails, block the rails!"
-----

CN Rail is a multi-billion dollar company, headquartered in Montreal,
whose tracks and installations occupy native lands from
ocean-to-ocean.

CN Rail is currently pursuing a multi-million dollar lawsuit against
three Mohawk activists from the community of Tyendinaga who were
actively involved in the defense of their land. CN is threatening more
lawsuits against other indigenous communities and activists who block
CN rail lines.

CN Rail and their executives are targeting indigenous community
organizers who have effectively brought the issue of land rights
violations and native sovereignty to the forefront. In the context of
appropriated native territory, which their tracks sit on, CN Rail's
actions are colonial and racist.

While CN uses the courts to attack native activists, their CEO -- E.
Hunter Harrison – is a member of the North American Competitiveness
Council, a key promoter of the recently formed "Security and
Prosperity Partnership" (SPP) between Canada, the United States and
Mexico. The SPP continues the imposition of the neo-liberal North
American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), combined with paranoid
"Homeland Security" policies.

The SPP is an attack on all working and oppressed peoples, especially
the indigenous peoples of "North America". The SPP leaders – George
Bush, Stephen Harper and Felipe Calderon -- will be meeting later this
summer, from August 20-21, in Montebello, Quebec (just 90 minutes from
Montreal).

"Canada" is a country built on stolen land and genocide: we come
together on July 1, in solidarity with native protests across Turtle
Island, as non-natives in opposition to Canadian colonialism and
racism. Join us for an anti-colonial anti-Canada Day!
