hey chuck, thanks for the update.

I wanted to throw an idea out there for the railing/bookshelf upstairs.? It seems with all the work to do to reach an opening point that maybe that project should wait till after the shop officially opens.? So the idea is to limit any stress on volunteers by making a structural railing for safety first and then later after other work has been done, add an aesthetic bookshelf.? I just thought of this and maybe its a good idea, maybe not.

I'll try to come by and help with some construction soon.

See you later,

Amory

The "Time to not Emit" musical is running for two more nights this week!
Don't miss this offbeat musical and a chance to support the Crossroads
Infoshop & Radical Bookstore. Shows start at 7:30 pm on Thursday, June 7
and Friday, June 8. Admission is $5-10 donation (or more, or less).
Popcorn and beverages will be available for a low price.

For those of you who are part of the infoshop collective, or are
interested in volunteering, there will be a collective meeting on
Monday, June 11, at 6 pm. The work day will proceed the meeting and
start at 4pm.

Quite a bit of work has been done to the infoshop space since my last
update. We have a bunch of work to do, but we are moving closer to
finishing Phase 1 of the project.

* Electrical lines and fixtures are being put in this week.
* The shelves along the stairs have been painted and are now being used
as bookcases.
* Today we put up drywall on the walls of the back utility closet.
* Around 90% of the floor in the front of the space has been scraped.
The floor will probably be finished after all the other works has been done.
* Prep work for the ceiling under the front balcony is mostly done.
After lighting fixtures are put in place, we will put up drywall to
create a new ceiling.
* The stairs have been painted.
* Much of the room has been patched and painted with a first layer of paint.
* Plans are being drawn up for the sale counter, the office area, a
bar-style seating area along the counter, and a free shelf area.

Plans for our grand re-opening are up in the air at this point, but the
space is open during our regular hours and more. The works has taken a
bit longer than planned, because some of our early volunteers have been
busy with the musical. But that's awesome because the musical is a fun
event for the infoshop.

Chuck
