i am not sure what you're referring to - i did not see any messages on
this list about communism or socialism, but i am bothered by what i
perceive as your attempt to define what critical mass is or is not. as
far as i am concerned, anyone is welcome to link the critical mass
movement to communism, socialism, anarchism, or any other attempt to
de-concentrate power. maybe you were reacting to the message about an
anit-capitalist party..? i hate to break it to you, but as long as cm
has been active in DC, it has been very linked to the anti-capitalist
movement (as it should be in my opinion).

your anti-communist rant sounds like it came right out of an american
textbook - ill informed. north korea claims to be communist, so does
cuba, so did china, and so did the ussr - why are all of these
governments so different though and why could they not unite? because
communism has never been practiced at the state level. india claims to
be a democracy (as do many nations), but they still have a caste system
- has democracy failed? do not believe all of the labels and
generalizations that you hear.

Critical Mass is about transportation issues, not about communism or
socialism. Please keep submitting info about transportation issues: ie
anti-InterCounty Connector protests, pro-Purple Line protests, protest
against Metro fare increases, anti-car protests, pro-bicycle
protests--like ours, etc.

Talking about communism and socialism, it collapsed 12 years ago, due to
every aspect of society being subsidized by government. Talking about
our transportation system, it is communist. First the government
subsidizes automobiles and trucks, by providing free access to the roads
and parking, which makes many American flock to their cars, and in
return ailing Mass Transit systems have to be subsidized due to lack of
potential ridership, due to the government giving preferential treatment
towards subsidizing automobiles. Communist governments gave unfair
preferential treatment when it comes to subsidies in all sectors of
business, just like our government unfairly gives preferential treatment
to automobiles--when it comes to subsidies--over all other forms of wise
transport.
