Just as I reminded everyone, there is NO HIERARCHY in CM. Looks like a
member of the Gonad Squad want to continue to bring Hierarchy and Rules
to CM, but remember, each CM participant makes the ride what is it, and
people who don't want confrontation doesn't have to follow the Gonad
Squad. I would suggest not bringing irrelevant issues to CM and sticking
to transportation issues, but each individual has the right to make CM
what it is. It is okay for Gonad Squad to act up, but please wait till
we have 100 plus participants. Especially with high levels of testerone
and tension, the I can understand that it is tempting to act up,
especially when the Gonad Squad has a hard-on for civil disobedience and
confrontations. With only 6-20 people showing up to the rides, acting up
makes us easy target for police harassment--even a MPD cop admits that
they are wrongfully profiling bicyclists.
To make CM rides only one Friday of the month is too HIERARCHICAL and
EXCLUSIONIST. To make CM every Friday is more flexible for the person
who has a life and a job, it also helps promote bicycles more frequently.
Even though many of you disagree with CM ride being every Friday, I will
still pass out flyers announcing CM as every Friday, like it or not.
CM has no mission statements or rules. Blocking traffic and confronting
motorists is an individual option not a rule for CM. When I am at the CM
I will do my part in taking up one lane, stopping at red lights, and
yielding to pedestrians. The red light is for us to stop there so
pedestrians can cross.
Why are fellow Massers acting like Virginia Car Drivers?
STOP ACTING LIKE A VIRGINIA CAR DRIVER, PEDESTRIANS HAVE THE RIGHT OF
WAY! YIELD TO PEDESTRIANS, LET THEM CROSS, AND STOP IMPEDING THEIR RIGHT
TO CROSS THE STREET.
All persons are highly encouraged to participate; regardless of shapes,
sizes, gender, race, ethnic groups, political affiliations, income,
religions, occupation, employer, military status, etc.
**Government personnel are highly encouraged to participate; the HATCH
ACT gives you every right to do so.
