MEMBERSHIP & DEVELOPMENT MANAGER NEEDED



The Washington Area Bicyclist Association (WABA) is seeking an experienced
professional to serve as Membership & Development Manager. Established in
1972, WABA is dedicated to promoting bicycling as a healthy and sustainable
means of transportation by advocating for better riding conditions in the
District of Columbia, suburban Maryland, and Northern Virginia. 



This position supports the Executive Director in the following ways -
managing membership and other external relations, and organizational
development.

 

Membership

Develop strategies to increase membership, draft fundraising appeals, create
marketing materials and direct mail solicitations, maintain donor record
keeping, and coordinate membership events.  Also responsible for developing
and implementing grassroots communication strategies to promote bike tours,
education classes, volunteer needs, and other organizational programs
through newspapers, radio, e-mail, Web sites, and list serves.

 

Development

Identify and pursue grant opportunities with private foundations, corporate
foundations, and other funding sources to support ongoing activities and new
initiatives. You will also work to build a solid major donor program for the
organization.

Administration
Support daily office operations and administration including responding to
membership inquiries, answering phones and general emails, updating website.
The position also involves providing communications support as needed for
new and ongoing WABA projects. 



Qualifications:

 

*	Experience in direct mail solicitations, major donor campaigns,
corporate fundraising, and grant writing

 

*	Extensive computer experience, especially in MS Office Suite

 

*	Strong oral and written communications skills

 

*	Web development experience and an interest in bicycling a plus


Position details: 

This is a full-time (40 hours per week) position. Hours are flexible and
some telecommuting will be acceptable.  Salary range is $30,000 to $35,000
with benefits.  WABA is an equal opportunity employer based in the District
