ANC Votes to Adopt Bike-Friendly Adams Morgan Plans


At the full meeting last night of Advisory Neighborhood Commission 1C (Adams
Morgan), the commission voted to accept the recommendations of its Planning,
Zoning and Transportation Committee for a new design of 18th Street in Adams
Morgan that will help improve bicycling in this key corridor.

As mentioned previously, the new plans will include shared lane markings
sought by WABA from Florida Avenue all the way to Columbia Road. In
addition, the committee also supported traffic calming measures such as
raised intersections and pedestrian safety improvement like curb bulbouts.
Ample bike parking will be provided throughout the corridor and the
sidewalks of the street will be dramatically expanded. 

The recommendations of the ANC will now be forwarded to the District
Department of Transportation as they move toward finalizing plans for the
street.

WABA would like to express its thanks to all that sent in letters of
