I imagine that that particular area is well-covered by police cameras. As
Jim mentioned, please keep us all informed about how the police handle this
matter.

Please make sure - as I know you will - to keep us updated on this incident.
Attempted manslaughter seems to be a just sentence.

Fellow Riders,
My roommate was intentionally hit by a (Virginia registered) car while
riding his bike downtown early Saturday morning. I thought you might want
to know about this incident. Here's the release I sent around to some local
blogs.
Regards.

Cyclist Struck On Purpose: Intentional Hit-And-Run
A Southwest DC cyclist was intentionally struck by a car early Saturday
morning just north of the National Mall. The cyclist says that around 1:15
a.m. he was headed south on 14th St., NW approaching Constitution Ave. when
the driver of a car behind him began honking and yelling at him to "get the
fuck off the road." He says the car then revved its engine before
accelerating into his bicycle and throwing him to the ground.
The rider, who was wearing a helmet, was treated at The George Washington
University Hospital for non-life threatening injuries and released several
hours later.
Witnesses were able to identify the license plate number of the car, which
is registered in Virginia. Police are still investigating the incident.
The intersection where the crash occurred is located inside the Central
Business District, within which, under DC law, cyclists must ride on the
roads and may not ride on the sidewalks.
Anyone who witnessed the crash is encouraged to send information to
SWDCBlog at gmail.com.
