Hi,
I'm doing a new screening of my movie, "Venezuela: Revolution from the
Inside Out." That's coming up on Monday, November 26 at 1:00 in the
Berkeley City College Auditorium (2050 Center Street, between Shattuck
and Milvia near the downtown Berkeley BART station) and it's FREE,
sponsored by the Global Studies Program of BCC. It may be the only time
you and I will see this movie on the big screen so I hope to see you there
This is a new edit of the movie and I'm quite excited about the changed
structure and additional segments I've included. I've taken to heart and
to the editing board many comments made after the screening at the
Friend's Meeting back in September so I've cut a bit and added a new
section as well as some great music from Palmeras Kanibales, a great
Venezuelan ska/hiphop/rock band, with their gracious permission. As a
result, this new version has a much stronger rhythm and integrity.
Thanks to your contributions, we have a $400 budget for the movie, which
will go into funding the final production. Some people, like my
ex-partner at New Earth Press, Dave Karoly (who now operates Evergreen
Printing (510-835-0254), where he works with environmentally-friendly
materials) have come forward to offer additional support in the making
of the movie. For those of you who are interested in helping me get
"Venezuela: Revolution from the Inside Out" onto dvd and into
distribution, you're invited to send advance orders ($19.95 per dvd plus
$3.50 shipping and 8.75% tax if in Alameda County -- total of $25.20
shipping/handling, tax for Alameda residents) or make a contribution of
$100 and receive acknowledgment in the credits and a copy of the dvd
when it emerges into the light of day. If you want to make that or any
other a tax-deductible donation, please make checks payable to "Freedom
Voices" and put the word "Encuentros" on the line that says "for" at the
bottom of the check.
I expect to have the movie out by January of 2008, just in time for the
post-Christmas slump (sigh) but in time to greet the new year with a bit
of hope and the energy that the Bolivarian process injects into an
otherwise grim and deflated new millennium.
Send checks or money orders or drop off bags of cash to
Clifton Ross
132 West Bissell Avenue
Richmond, CA. 94801
I hope to see you at Berkeley City College or elsewhere soon.
Yours,
Clif Ross
