[ETAN-key] Fundraising concert for Galaxy in Portugal!!

Hello Paulo,

Yes, it is not the best plan, we know….And the festival (so the Camara Municipal de Sines) could have help more…

But at the same time, and certainly not to defend them, it’s like the system of many festivals. They have an “IN programme” for the music groups that are known and that the program committee choose,  and they have an “OFF programme” for the bands that they like but are just new and were not seen in many places before. 

The committee make a selection in between the hundreds bands that wish to participate to this festival and they just “invite”… as a promotion … Providing usually just accommodation and food while the festival…And that’s what did happen with Galaxy.

We did receive support from the President Office, Austasia and Fundacao Oriente…But unfortunately we are still missing 2000$...

But the chance and opportunity were so great that we had to try…Lets say we have to try….And fortunately after this edition, the Sines festival will beg Galaxy to come back and this time pay them and their transport!!

Dear Arte Moris

The festival's website mentions that "The Sines’ concert is supported by East-Timor’s President and government" and I also thought that your trip would be financed by the Câmara Municipal de Sines (with money from the tax payers), however it seems that's not the case. Who's leaving there part behind? It's not nice at all for a band like yours being invited to play in a such important festival (last year there were more than 85000 people) and end up organising fundrising events to pay the trip.

6.30 - 9pm .. Galaxy are the first ever Timorese band to be invited to the Festival de Músicas do Mundo in Sines, Portugal, but they need your help to get there. The event, supported by Moving Cause an organization that supports Social Entrepreneurship and Social Conscience, starts at 6.30 pm in Fundação Oriente (next hotel Katuas) with a arts exhibition from ARTE MORIS and photography exhibition and sell to raise funds for the Timor-Portugal trip and then there will be an relaxed acoustic concert by Galaxy.
