The Second National Conference
on
Facilitating Sustainable Agriculture Education
July 11-14, 2007
Greetings!
We are pleased to announce the 2nd National Conference on Facilitating
Sustainable Agriculture Education, July 11-14, 2007. Please join us for this
exciting opportunity to facilitate a cross-disciplinary dialogue on learning
and teaching in sustainable agriculture at colleges and universities in the
U.S.
Held at Cornell University's Alice Cook House, located in Ithaca, New York,
the conference will draw a diverse gathering of faculty, staff, undergraduate
and graduate students, administrators, extension educators, farmers and food
system practitioners who are active or interested in sustainable agriculture
education at institutions of post-secondary learning.
What's continuing? What's new?
If you joined us for the 2006 conference at Asilomar in Pacific Grove,
California, we will continue and improve upon what we started! If you are
joining us for the first time, we hope you will become a part of this
innovative gathering of friends and colleagues to:
- Promote and support sustainable agriculture education
- Share curricula, teaching experiences & hands-on learning approaches
- Exchange educational approaches & materials
- Learn how to start & sustain sustainable agriculture education programs
- Celebrate & further develop the Sustainable Agriculture Education
Association
- Discuss opportunities and create strategies to work together
The conference will use interactive and participatory formats for workshops
and discussions. And, we'll have plenty of time to network with one another!
The conference venue was selected for its affordability, location in the
eastern United States (the first conference being in the west), and access to
local food and "green" conference services. As the land-grant institution of
New York State, Cornell University has one of the largest agricultural
teaching and research programs in the world.
Scholarship assistance may be available to students. The event will begin on
the evening of July 11, include numerous field trips and field exercises in
the region, and continue until mid-day on July 14, allowing adequate travel
time on both ends.
Stay tuned for details in the coming months. In the meantime, please mark your
calendars!

2007 Conference Planning Steering Committee
