defects, developmental delays, attention deficit disorders, premature  
puberty, and childhood cancers.  Genetic and social factors certainly  
play a role, but evidence reviewed by the American Academy of  
Pediatrics and the National Academy of Sciences also implicates toxic  
chemicals.  Environmental exposures take on great importance because  
they can be prevented.
 
 From mercury in tuna fish to lead in house dust, from pesticides to  
dry-cleaning solvents, this public presentation focuses on chemical  
substances that sabotage child development and raise the risk for harm.
 
Children are environmentally vulnerable.  Pound for pound, they breathe  
more air, drink more water, and eat more food than we adults.  Find out
