Remember the Seneca Women's Encampment For A
Future Of Peace & Justice
(1982-2006)? In the summer of 1983, 12,000 women came
there to take a stand against
nuclear weapons and US militarism. The public is
invited to a showing of 2 films:
"Every Woman Here: Remnants of Seneca 1982-2006",
"Stronger Than Before", the
award-winning video shown on PBS, and a photo exhibit
to be presented Friday and
Saturday, May 30 &31, 7 PM at the wheelchair
accessible Women's INFOrmation Center, 601 Allen St.,
corner Harvard Pl., Syracuse. Suggested donation is
$5 to $10. There will be a discussion with women of
the Peace Encampment Herstory Project followed by
refreshments, music, and socializing. Dvds & photos
will be sold.

If you were at the Peace Camp, even briefly, and
would like to be interviewed on
video to have your experiences archived, please
contact Susie Kossack, 607-277-1236,
mskossack at yahoo.com. Women from the Peace Encampment
Herstory Project will
conduct interviews at Women's INFO to collect oral
herstories, images, music, and other media about the
Peace Camp. Bring your stories and your artifacts.

The Women's Peace Encampment was a 52-acre farm,
adjoining the Seneca Army
Depot, one of the world's largest nuclear weapons
storage facilities, located in Romulus,
NY. Women of all faiths and from all walks of life
came to this land to advocate for a
peaceful nuclear-free world, to protest U.S deployment
of these Cruise and Pershing
nuclear missiles, and to create an all-women's
community which embraced feminism
non-collaboration with violence and militarism, and
the use of the consensus decision-
making process.
