Prayer as a Radical Act:
Dance Workshop with Liz Lerman Dance Exchange
Sponsored by Wesley Theological Seminary, the Henry Luce III Center for the Arts and Religion, and the Potomac Chapter of the Sacred Dance Guild...

Join Wesley Theological Seminary and Liz Lerman Dance Exchange in a day long workshop, Prayer as a Radical Act, where prayer, activism, and dance-making come together. When is action prayer? When is meditation a form of activism? How does prayer live in everyday tasks? Can it be used to validate questionable acts in society? With Dance Exchange company members we will pursue these questions in a highly collaborative structure, informing and energizing dance practices for liturgical contexts. Embodying the definition of liturgy as “work of the people,” participants of varied faith backgrounds will have a chance to stretch their leadership and followership skills in a dance-making context, find their place in a collaborative mix, and advance their own ideas. Participants should bring with them a zest for questioning, adaptability to new processes, and an interest in exploring prayer/activism as subject matter.
