Greetings friends! I wanted to pass this along once again... each year,
this training/educational event grows nicely. One list member, Amy
Clark, highly recommended the BuildaBridge Institute to me last time
aroudn; she attended in 2006. I still haven't made it but hope to!

(It happens right before the Contact Improv event of the decade - CI36
which is happening at Juniata College in June - http://www.ci36.com/ ).
All good stuff! -chris

Transforming Lives through the Creative Arts
Bryn* *Mawr** College - Bryn Mawr, PA *

June 4-8, 2008 (Open Institute)
June 4-11, 2008 (MA Graduate Residency)

BuildaBridge Institute is a training and applied research academy that
prepares artists, youth workers, community and congregational leaders,
social service professionals, after school and nonprofit organization
personnel to integrate the arts effectively in education and community
development.

This year, for the first time, the BuildaBridge Institute will feature
two simultaneous tracks. This means that returning participants will
have new course offerings in the theory and practice of arts in
transformation. We are also adding new faculty from a variety of
arts-integrated fields in education, social work, and healing.

Courses will include* Foundations for Arts in Transformation, Arts and
Human Development*, *Arts in Education*, *Arts in Healing (**New)*,
*Arts in Social Services (**New)*, *Arts and Spirituality* and
*Leadership Practicum (**New)*. *Art-making* takes place through classes
in music, dance, drama, visual arts, banner-making, and creative
writing. We will also have our very popular and unique *Methods Lab
Practicum* where students and participants observe and assist a lead
teacher in a direct arts service program with youth in a local homeless
shelter. Participants can also attend courses in* Cross-Cultural Skills
for Community and Overseas Service (**New)*, and *Organization for
Community Arts* featuring collaborative work and fund-raising. /The
Healing Place/, a drama-based training program for responding to trauma
in children, will also be introduced.

Act-48, undergraduate and graduate credit is available through Eastern
University.

Class size is limited. Reserve your space in advance. Full registration,
which includes all course work, textbooks and supplies, is $450 for
early applicants (by February 22) and $500 for late applicants (by May
20). An additional $250 covers 4 nights of room and board at Bryn Mawr
College (overnight accommodation, 3 meals/day). A single day rate of
