Notes from the Round Table Outreach Meeting
Monday July 15th 2002

Present: steve s; rob w; luke; chris c; george r;carol t; parisa n; casey h;
david l; marie c; njoki n; nadine b

Decisions:
1. to hold several Round tables, without media present right now
2. to hold the first "round table" on Thursday, July 27th, 7:30pm-9:30pm @
AFSC 2211 Florida Ave
focusing on  local ( contrasted to national-NGO) individuals & groups:
3. to have a future event for the  national-NGO groups
4. goals:
--bring community of WDC together to share information and discuss what is
already planned for Fall Actions re: WB-IMF
--discuss possibility to 'harness' energy of people coming from out of town
in making global-local connections, particularily around "Having a
Voice" ..lack of representation for DC and for communities at the receiving
end of IMF-WB structural adjustment policies
 --begin a process for building links, networks, the 'movemtn"
 -- forge links between local, domestic activists and citizens with global
justice activists
5. general agenda for first Roundtable:
· Significant time for Intros-networking
· Brief update on calendar/plans so far
· Brief info re; WB-IMF global-local links
· Discussion
6. 2 Facilitators, one from MGJ, one from community outside MGJ

8. this Round table is a supplement to our 'usual' organizing activities, we
need to plan a general outreach meeting

Discussion on other topics:
-- having a Roundtable be part of the Social Forum in the Fall
-- using this to help with Sept 11 event organizing ( decision not to do
this speciffical;ly, but know it would help not hinder this )
-- re0-invigorating the "Tax the Bank" ( Fannie Mae) campaign
--selecting single issues/target for focus of Round Table
--work wit6h the ANC's to pass resolutions re "Tax the Bank"
--contacting candidates ( not for this first Table)

Calendar so far:
· March for Dignity/Immigration Sept 25
· Interfaith/Religious Working Group Vigil all nite Thurs, 26th, with direct
action Fri morning
· ACC likely changing call for General Strike from Oct 1 to Friday 27th
· IMF-WB meetings on 28/29th
