A free, creative open-air market to celebrate our alternative practices
and visions.

The corporate globalizers are buying and selling our world in the name of
"free trade." However, it is clear to us that their so-called "free trade"
is a code-word for a war on democracy, people, and the planet. In the face
of their sinister word games, we proclaim that a REAL free market is
possible. A market in which we the people control our own work and
workplaces, where we are truly free to give and receive on our own terms.
A market in which we can fulfill our needs collectively, working together
in communities of care and mutual support. A market that values both
cultural and ecological diversity.

To celebrate this vision, we invite everyone to join in the creation of a
people's bazaar-- the "Really REALLY Free Market"--in downtown Washington
D.C. On  Saturday, April 24th there will be a rally, march and festival of
resistance in opposition to the World Bank and International Monetary Fund
(IMF). It will be a day to move our resistance from a courageous NO! to
many irresistible YES's! and to strengthen our opposition to corporate
globalization by celebrating the alternatives that already exist. Our
vision is a positive, non-confrontational festival of generosity, healing,
and mutual care. Together, we will build an example of a market, in the
ancient tradition of open-air public bazaars, that is truly good for
democracy, people, and the planet.

We call for individuals and groups to organize bazaar "booths" (defined
broadly and creatively by you!) that contain performances, creative
events, items to give or barter, and other activities that express our
visions of a better world. Create community currencies; offer gifts of all
kinds; share stories, music, dances, and ideas; barter goods and services;
receive and give thanks; and create any other kind of exciting market
"booth" or event that you can imagine!

The“Really REALLY Free Market” will be part of the festival of
resistance, which will include music, speakers, global justice games (like
a G-8 dunking booth and pin the SAP (Structural Adjustment Program) on the
poor country)
