During the week of action don't miss this opportunity to stand up for full
funding for DC public schools. A baseball stadium gets built while schools
get ignored - this is structural adjustment right in our own backyard!

$Millions for Stadiums -- Peanuts for Schools

Every day our children go to schools that are literally falling apart. Yet
year after year our elected officials continue to neglect our schools.

Despite this year's budget surplus, the mayor is proposing to slash the
capital budget for the schools by 44 percent! At the same time, the city is
moving heaven and earth to come up with a public financing scheme to spend
more than $500 million on baseball. Our kids deserve a better deal.

As a coalition of students, parents, teachers, custodial workers and
concerned DC residents, we believe that the conditions of DC Public Schools
are unacceptable. On the opening day of the Nationals at RFK, we will rally
at the newly renovated stadium to demand that City leaders invest in our
school buildings just like they have chosen to invest in Major League
Baseball. Here are our demands:

1) $200 million for the DCPS capital budget in FY 2006, to continue
repairing and modernizing our aging schools.

2) Full support for the DCPS Facilities Master Plan, which will modernize
all public schools, ensuring safe schools with updated facilities for all
children.

Please join our protest:
