[mgj-announce] MGJ Genral Meeting: Wed. Dec 14th 7-9pm

[Mobilization for Global Justice]

The Mobilization for Global Justice general meeting Wednesday Dec. 14th 
7:00-9:00pm at St. Stephens Church 16th and Newton St. NW (Columbia 
Heights Metro stop, S2 and S4 Bus, Street parking only, lots of bike 
parking)

MGJ has been on a long and productive strategic planning road to 
develop a work plan and/or campaign for the next 6 months to a year. 
Three proposals are currently on the table being discussed and refined. 
They include an education and direct action series focusing on the 
broader neo-liberal model. A campaign targeting IMF budget cielings 
which prevent impovershed countries from spending over a certain amount 
of money on public sector things such as health care workers. This 
leaves many coutries unable to hire enough people to effectivly combat 
the HIV/AIDS pandemic. And the third proposal is to target preditory 
lending in communities in DC and link it to the ideaology of the World 
Bank and IMF through targeting large banks that hold World Bank bonds 
and who also benefit off of lending money to poor people.

Its a really a exciting time to get involved with MGJ and to help shape 
the coming months!
