What’s the big story this year during the coming fall convergence?

What angles will NOT be covered by the corporate media?

Are you interested in working on a video documentary? A 24-hour radio stream? Putting breaking news and in-depth features on the DC-IMC website? Producing a non-corporate newspaper?

Would you like a grant to help pay for your media project this fall?

All of this and more will be discussed at the DC Independent Media Center meeting this Monday, Aug. 5. This will be the first general planning meeting to cover the events and stories this year at the end of September, when the IMF and World Bank hold their annual meetings and thousands converge on DC for protests and peace events.

WHAT: DC-IMC planning meeting for fall convergence

WHEN: Monday, Aug. 5 at 7pm

WHERE: The American Friends Service Committee, 2211 14th Street NW

Many creative and powerful media projects could be done this year, such as: satellite uplinks of daily video documentaries; 24-hour radio streams in collaboration with other activists internationally; community film showings; an in-depth daily newspaper with special inserts; fast breaking news via the Internet; media cafes; wireless computer kiosks set up around town; a mobile Indymedia van; collaboration with media makers around the globe. YOU can make anything happen.

***Many projects can be funded by grants if we start organizing NOW. Please bring a description of your media project and budget to help facilitate the grant writing process. Or send that information to dc at indymedia.org***

A listing of events being organized for the end of September and list of organizations can be found at http://www.dc.indymedia.org/sept2002.php3

For more information, contact the DC-IMC at (202) 452-5936 or dc at indymedia.org
