   On considerable thought(I was thinking on Monday), I endorse Chuck's call for a Friday People's Strike. Putting it there can block the IMF delegates from even getting to the city, much less the meetings(instead of being an aftershow). Ordinary workers will LOVE getting an excuse for a three-day weekend. I can see it now: "sorry, massa, but I coulnd't get past the blockades."
  A big enough victory on Friday could force the cancellation of the meetings, as police officials fear the direct action of Friday causing the scheduled protests of Sat and sun to heat up into more direct action on an even bigger scale. In Prague, the first, super-intense day of action so intimidated the delegates that the second day of the IMF meetings was mostly empty rooms, and the third day of the meetings was called off. Let's kick some assets and try to replicate that result instead of S29!
   Imagine being a corporate exec. You're on you way to the big IMF meeting on your corporate jet. You nervously watch the news of the general strike on your TV. As your plane approaches the North American coast, the pilot reports that you have been diverted from National Airport because of "civil unrest too close." You land at Dulles or BWI and have to hole up for the night at a hotel in Va or MD-only to be kept awake by remote drum crews. In the morning, with a pounding headache from the drums, it's time to get in your limo to run the gauntlet for 30 miles or more, hoping against hope that you don't get caught in a traffic backup on the Beltway or on I-95 from the blockades(these highways are busy 7 days a week). Soon, you are bogged down in bumber to bumper traffic as far as the eye can see. After three hours of this, your lime overheats and blows off a radiator hose. The engine is stopped and the hood is up in the middle of the highway(no heat or AC), and your driver's un
 iform is covered with grease. Meanwhile the meetings have already "started" without you or anyone from your corporation to represent it!
