PROTEST BOOK SIDELINED BY PROTESTERS
Center Lane Press of Miami, today announced today that the October 10th
release of its widely anticipated photojournalism book
on protest in America entitled, Protest In The Land Of Plenty, has been
held up by none other than the striking International
Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWB), who are staging labor protests at
ports on the U.S. west coast.
"It somehow seems appropriate that this should happen, " said Al Crespo,
the photojournalist who spent 5 years traveling around
the country photographing the over 40 protests that are featured in the
book. " If this goes on too long I'll probably fly out and
take photographs of the protesters and include them in my next book."
The book includes dramatic and never before seen photographs of the
WTO, and IMF/World Bank protests as well as over 40
other protests and demonstrations including those that accompanied the
2000 Presidential election from the conventions to the
inauguration, the Elian Gonzalez saga, the Million Mom March, the annual
School Of The Americas protests at Fort Benning,
Georgia, Haitian immigration, Right To Life protests and protests
involving the death penalty, to name only a few.
"Protest In The Land Of Plenty also includes eight thought provoking
and insightful essays from some of the most knowledgeable
and respected protest leaders and organizers who provide a unique
perspective on the current state of protest in our country.
Center Lane Press is a new publisher of photojournalism books intended
to provide unique views of our world.
