The voice and presence of the the religious community is desperately needed
in Washington as
the Congress debates and votes on a war with Iraq. NETWORK, LCWR (The
Leadership
Conference of Women Religious) and Pax Christi USA are organizing to visit
Legislators of-
fices and hold vigil as they make the decision about launching the U.S. into
war.
Details for coming to Washington to lobby on October 9th:
Call to make your own appointments with your Members of
Congress for Oct. 9. Capitol switchboard: 202-224-3121
Wear comfortable shoes! Bring letters from others to deliver
to Legislators.
Come to the United Methodist Building, starting at 9:00 a.m.
(100 Maryland Ave. NE.,Rm. #3). NETWORK will provide
packets for lobby visits and answer any questions.
The closest metro station is Union Station. For a map of the
area, go to http://www.senate.gov/visiting/visit_map.html.
Lobby during the day at the House and Senate office buildings.
Vigil during the day with LCWR near the House and Senate office buildings as
Members of
Congress are debating.
Evening Prayer Vigil for Peace at Freedom Plaza - 6:30 PM.
Stay, if you can, for other events planned by other groups on Oct. 10-11.

of war as a solution to conflict. Ask for every possible diplomatic means to
avert a war.The

staffers to discuss your
opposition to war on Iraq.
