2) Neil attended the March/Rally committee meeting and Seth joined the
last Coordinating Committee conference call. David read some information
that Seth emailed him. The final march route will go from Columbia
Heights/Mt. Pleasant (Two ideas for the starting location: North side of
Mt. Pleasant street [block off street to traffic] and Malcolm X Park. Mt.
Pleasant Street would be more visible than Malcolm X Park, but could also
be an inconvenience to people in that neighborhood and significantly
harder to get a permit. The march/rally committee decided to continue
considering both possibilities, but will put off the decision until we
form a roundtable with local immigrant rights groups, Project South, and
Neighbors Consejo to discuss the events and have those groups be a part of
that decision, as well as how the rally should be structured.), down 16th
St to New York Ave, stop at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB),
then a stop at Occidental Petroleum Corp Headquarters, then the US Trade
Rep's office, and finally the World Bank/IMF. We will have short
mini-rallies at these four sites (a flat-bed truck will be a rolling
stage) - no longer than 15 minutes each. We also talked about the
logistical concerns about the stops along the march route, messaging local
angles.
