> Hi folks,

Coming out of last night's meeting, there's a real need to get the ball
rolling in terms of doing outreach for the LASC mobilization in April.
We all recognize the great work all of us are doing in terms of anti-war
organizing and that certainly has taken up a lot of our time. However,
that doesn't change the fact that MGJ is part of a coalition planning
for what should shape up to be a really cool event which will occur in
about two months.

Towards that end, we need all hands on deck to get this ball rolling.
Right now our outreach and communications are essentially working
together. Hendrik, Mark Rickling, Raul, and myself are working on a
couple of basic but essential things.

First, we are going to try and put together some basic and succint
locally specific reasons why people should come out-- what are the major
issues etc., why should they care. This is also to help us work with
local DC Jobs with Justice and local labor unions.

Secondly, we need to start brainstorming groups, organizations, arts
groups, neighborhoods, etc. where we can do some basic outreach
particularly to the Latin American community. People should at least
know that this event is occurring. For instance we should be contacting
Spanish-speaking newspapers and other specific news journals. etcetera.
This could be a real exciting event if people knew about it.

So what I would ask then is that, I know people are busy with their
lives and other organizing which becomes clear at the meetings when
there's not many people there.

At the very least we can get the ball rolling by brainstorming and
e-mailing to the listserv relevant groups/neighborhood/or outreach
ideas. (I suppose the outreach listserv is the most relevant). We'll
compile the list and go from there. Its a basic but important exercise.
Secondly, we can also use the same listserv to put out some
communications ideas so that we can start to hone our message and do
more effective outreach.

We need everybody's contributions....

people can sign up to the outreach listserv by e-mailing
