In Washington DC at the end of September 2002, after a
month filled with protests and educational sessions on
global and local struggles, we will set aside time on
Sunday, the 29th for movement-building.  


In brief:

1) On the model of the World Social Forum in Porto
Alegre the Washington DC Social Forum is not an
organization or a coalition of organizers – it is a
call for organizations to host their own forums on
strategy or alternatives.  This is about dedicating
space on the calendar to talk about the future of the
movement. At the end of a week of action, and before
people leave the city, groups may want to call for
forums for reflection, for consolidating strategies,
or for constructing alternatives.

2) In preparation for the forums, we are calling for
brief discussion papers on strategy & alternatives. 
We have suggested some key questions around which
papers may be written and forums may be called.  The
papers will be posted online in an online archive now
located at: www.dcsocialforum.org
 
3) Individuals can suggest other strategy questions
for the online archive. Organizations may suggest
their own strategy question for the online archive and
for the forum they wish to host.
