George Bush really enjoys what he is doing. He says he really likes his
job. I can see how he would relish what he is doing when he is manic -
because manic-depressives have moments of high euphoria. Manic-Depressives
are classic flip-floppers.
"It's a fantastic moment in my life, obviously. There's a lot of ups and
downs. There's a lot of high drama and not much calm so far. But I've
enjoyed doing it, to the point where I'd like to do it again."
George Bush is certainly upbeat publicly. He says the economy is surging
and the recession, which he says he inherited, is over. He doesn't dwell
on the jobs lost; he emphasizes 1.5 million lower paying jobs created; not
NET jobs lost, not the almost two million people who lost jobs (includes
private sector jobs) in the the Bush recession, nor does he ever mention
he also inherited a surplus and no deficits.

Thus, the devastation of the Persian Gulf shows the need to avoid wars,
which in an era of high-tech warfare constitute a form of environmental
terrorism. I have noted that early in the war Bush removed all
environmental restraints on the Pentagon and blocked government agencies
from revealing information concerning the environmental effects of the
Gulf war. Thus, we see in retrospect, and too late, that "untying the
hands" of the Pentagon meant in practice giving them unrestricted power to
wreak maximum destruction on the environment and human beings. The Gulf
war showed once again the disregard for the environment within the
military and political establishments in the United States and elsewhere,
as well as the need to abolish war in the contemporary era as a mode of
conflict resolution.
