Hi, everyone
Many apologies that all this took so long. We kind of got sidetracked straightening out the domain name issues, and then the time I'd set aside for this project had expired, and then I ended up having to re-work a lot of things with my hosting environment. But we're finally where we said we'd be. I've got a CMS installed for MGJ, and finishing work is proceeding. I've still got work to do with my hosting environment, but the system is stable now and you can expect to see a lot of new resources become availble to DC area groups soon. I don't want to set up excessive expectations so I'll leave it at that.
You can check on out current progress at http://www.globalizethis.org/index.php As soon as it's looking decent and enough people are trained on it we'll make that the live site. There's a fair amount of customization to do, but I expect that MGJ'ers will be able to start adding content to the site shortly after the holidays conclude. The main things we have to do are to drop in a template to get the look-and-feel the way we want it, and to create the structure by which we will organize our content, and do trainings. I expect to start creating user accounts within a few days so that people can familiarize themselves with the system. Anyone who is interested in the administrative aspects of the system feel free to contact me and I will do my utmost to include you in the process. For content creators and editors, you should hear from us soon and we will announce a training. The editing interface is dead simple so it shouldn't be a big deal.
For those who care to know - I've installed Joomla and plan to follow that up with the joomla-civicspace inegration, egroupware, and eventually moodle for the education working group. The site runs on my virtual hosting environment (hosting control panel under development) on php5, mysql 5.0, and debian stable.
Feel free to pose any questions you would like to. Anyone able to help is now re-encouraged to do so. We especially need help with the design template.
Peter
