CAUTION!
A Better World is Under Construction!
Spring mobilization against the World Bank and International Monetary Fund
UPDATE #1
In this update:
1.Grab yer hard everyone were a going protesting!
2.I know you! You were at the last A16!
3.Shameless plea for contributions (copies, graphic design, paper)
4.Come out to a meeting and shape the mobilization
The Spring meetings of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) are
just over 2 months away. From April 15th -17th The Mobilization for Global
Justice is calling on all working to construct a better world to come out to
condemn the World Bank and IMF seeing that they are structurally unsound and of
no use to the community we must demolish the two institutions!
1. Grab yer hard hat everyone were a going protesting!
The theme of these years mobilization against the World Bank and IMF During
their spring meetings is A Better World is Under Construction! and sure
enough it is. Around the world each day people are in there own way embodying
the struggle for justice and creating a better world. Not just through
protesting in the streets. People are actively taking back there communities,
jobs, environment and dignity from the thieving global capitalists.
On Saturday, April 16th Converge at the World Bank and IMF (18th and H Sts. NW).
Come wearing and carrying construction themed props for a grand ole time
symbolically demolishing the Bank and Fund and building something better in
their place. Some ideas:
- Hard hats
- Cardboard tools
- Traffic cones
- Caution tape
- Wrecking balls (!) (?)
To show our opposition to neo-liberalism around the globe including right here
in DC much of the action will focus on local struggles and success. Washington
DC is continually structurally adjusted in the same fashion as countries in the
Global South are structurally adjusted by the World Bank and IMF. From the
privatization of our public hospital to the privatization of multiple municipal
jobs Washington DC residents experience neo-liberalism at it worst every day.
But like much of the world DC residents have been organizing to construct a
better world! The time has come to celebrate that resistance and join it with
the global resistance to the neo-liberal order!
2. I know you! You were at the last A16!
Were you at the last A16 (April 16th, 2000)? Then MGJ wants to talk to you! To
build for this years mobilization outreach folks want to reconnect with the
many who came out 5 years ago at the first A16 to build connections, catch up
and see what we can do to get you here or to build for a local event in your
town or city! Please e-mail mgj at riseup.net if you would like to be involved in
this little project.
3. Shameless plea for contributions:
Money is nice but since it is responsible for so much destruction then we will
first ask for in kind contributions. MGJ is in need of paper, copies,
graphic design and most important right now a web master to work on the
globalizethis web site (www.globalizethis.org). e-mail mgj at riseup.net with
your contributions and how we can get em to us!
