5/25/05 MGJ Meeting Notes
I. Reportbacks
-Fundraising-ideas for fundraising include house party, film screenings, folk
musicians that Morrigan knows
-Flyering @ IFC consultation went well, award for "most flawed consultation
process" was presented to wolfehnsen inside
-DAWN-working on getting a space for student event-May 7 or 8
II. Discussion
-AIDS march Thursday, May 5th @ noon- Navy/Memorial Metro-Campaign to End
AIDS
-would like us to put up posters around town, they'll give us a
donation-we said,"ok"
-ZMag article-Hope working on draft
-Boys & Girls Club cleanup day Saturday 10-2(went well)
-MGJ Strategy Retreat- Hope collected best dates from people, so far looks
like eithr first weekend in June or May 21st wknd.
III. Proposals
-consensed to endorse May 5th AIDS march
-consensed on putting up posters
-consensed on organizing a teach-in in DC about links between Biotech and
globalization and links between struggles against-sometime before June 18-21
Philly Biodemocracy demonstrations (Basav, Catherine, Keith, Jon, Tia expressed
interest in working group for this)
-proposal for a Biodemocracy solidarity action in DC June 21st to coincide w/
Philly--not consensed--people had concerns about being spread too thin if people
from MGJ are going up to Philly-relate concerns on next Biodem. conference call
-proposal for us to participate in organizing a teach-in in Philly during
days of action(June 18-21)--not consensed--people wanted to know more about
what is expected of us in terms of the organizing-talk about it with Philly
folks on next conference call-people open to discussing possibility further if
details can be worked out
***Next MGJ General Meeting Wednesday, May 4th 7-9PM @ St. Stephen's(16th and
Newton NW)
