Tonight! Dirty Power: How Coal is Destroying communities in Colombia  
and at Home
When: Thursday, April 6th
Where: All Souls Church 16th and Harvard Streets, NW
Time: 7pm

Come watch a short video and hear speakers on the displacement of  
communities in Guajira, Colombia. This same coal is fueling power  
plants in Baltimore and Salem, MA. Learn what the implications are for  
people here and what you can do to help the affected communities in  
Colombia.

Jose Julio Perez is from the community of Tabaco, displaced by Exxon  
Mobil and a
consortium of other mining companies for the benefit of the largest  
open pit coal mine in the world. He will give a testimony and show a  
short video of Tabaco’s struggle.

Nadia Martinez is from the Sustainable Energy and Economy Network. She  
will talk about the World Bank Policy towards communities and the  
environment displaced by extractive industries like oil and mining.

Una noche de video y charlas sobre el desplazamiento de las  
comunidades en la Guajira,
Colombia, lo que significa para la gente aqui y lo que puedes hacer  
para apoyar las
comunidades. Este carbon genera energia para la gente de Salem, MA y  
Baltimore.


Jose Julio Perez viene de la comunidad de Tabaco, desplazado por Exxon  
y un consorcio de
otras impresas mineras para el beneficio de la mina abierta de carbon  
mas grande del
mundo. Viene para dar un testimonio y mostrar un video de lo que  
sucedio en la comunidad.
El es el presidente del Comite por la Pro-Reubicacion de la Comunidad  
de Tabaco.

Nadia Martinez es de Sustainable Energy and Economies Netowrk. Ella va  
a hablar sobre las
politicas que tiene el Banco Mundial acerca de su responsibilidad a  
las comunidades y el
medioambiente afectadas por impresas mineras y petroleras.
