MGJ general meeting minutes
4/12/2006

Next meeting: Wednesday 4/19, 7 pm, St. Stephen’s Church, 16th & Newton St.
NW (Columbia Heights)
Nicole and Basav facilitate.

A. Reportbacks
Immigrants’ rights march and rally on Monday 4/10: HUGE! And very
energetic. 
Several MGJers went on a MGJ contingent with puppets etc. Others joined the
event on their own or with other contingents. 
Very positive response to our puppets!
Things to do better next time:
1. Some of our puppets are in need of repair.
2. Need better logistical plan (made in advance!) to deal with puppets at
the end of the march.
3. Need more lead time/preparation to be able to distribute literature. We
have an excellent immigration factsheet, but don’t have it in Spanish
(yet). Jaime working on translating it, so we have it for upcoming events
on immigration.

B. Press stunt
Friday @ noon outside IMF.
We have scenario.
We have script draft – details being worked on.
We have press advisory – going out Monday.
Most roles filled, but more actors are always welcome! It’s fun, so please
join in!
No particular acting skills needed. 
But presence at rehearsal REQUIRED if you want to be in the skit.
Rehearsal at 6:30 pm, Tuesday 4/18 at Vineeta Gupta’s house. For more info:

C. Saturday/Sunday scenario 
(Not formally endorsed by MGJ, but with individual members of MGJ helping
plan and organize)

SATURDAY: Teach-ins/trainings at St. Stephen’s
8:30-9:30AM: Breakfast
9:30-10:30: DC issues Teach-in
10:30-12:30: Medic training (safety in the streets)
12:30-1pm: Lunch
1-2pm: Legal training (know your rights in DC)
2-Dinner: Affinity Group training, formation and SPOKESCOUNCIL

7:30PM: Meet at Farragut Square for Night March and actions to capitalist
points of interest

SUNDAY:
Time/PLace TBA: IMF Soccer Riot...bring your old spare balls

D. Logistics for weekend

1. Convergence center staffing needs:
The following slots are still open:
Friday: all day until 5pm
Saturday: 3-5pm, overnight
Sunday: 3-5pm, 9-11pm (though both of these shifts probably won't be
necessary)

2. Food: If you want to help cook for the meals at the convergence space,
