VOLUNTEER WANTED:
A Web Savvy Artist with an interest to help design and maintain the
United States Social Forum web site.
The United States Social Forum comes at a significant time in U.S. and
global history. The disaster of hurricane Katrina and the failure of the
federal government to respond in a timely, proactive way have
highlighted extreme poverty in the U.S. and the race and class divisions
that divide the country. The labor movement has divided with at least
three major unions leaving the American Federation of Labor and Congress
of Industrial Organizations. Progressive movements in general are also
fractured, divided along geography, race, class and issues.
This will be the first time such a venture has been attempted in the US.
The fact that the first USSF will take place in Atlanta during the
summer of 2007 is a real coup. We expect between 15,000 and 20,000
grassroots organizers to attend over the five days to network and
dialogue in an open space for the sharing of ideas and strategies. The
agenda will be built by those who attend through participation in their
regional forums and working groups.
Sounds like something that interest you? Give me a call or send an
email.
Thanks
