CLOSING Solidarity Rally
Week of Actions to Oppose the Korea-US Free Trade Negotiations

Friday, June 9
4 to 6 pm
Lafayette Park (H St and 16th St - across the street from the White House)

On June 5, the U.S. began free trade talks with South Korea in Washington
D.C. Former U.S. Trade Representative Rob Portman calls the Korea-US FTA
“the biggest deal since NAFTA,” as the U.S. considers FTAs with key
countries in East Asia - e.g. Korea, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand - a
strategic step in its aim of lifting trade barriers with China.

The entire people’s movement in Korea has declared stopping the FTA its
number one priority, and this entire week, a delegation of peasant, labor,
and community leaders from Korea have been waging a struggle in Washington
D.C. to protest the Korea-U.S. free trade negotiations. The delegation
represents diverse sectors of the people's movement and many organizations,
including the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions and the Korean Peasants
League.

Throughout the week Korean workers and peasants were charged with strength
with the solidarity shown by US allies. Come celebrate our week of
struggle against the FTA and to send off the Korean delegartion wtih
comradeship and strength to continue the fight!
