                   PTA MEMBERSHIP DRIVE

WHERE:     EASTERN SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL, 1700 EAST CAPITOL STREET, NE  SCHOOL LIBRARY


The levees are breaking here in D.C. as charter schools, convention centers, hotels, baseball stadium and condominiums threaten our public spaces and access to a quality education. The quality of education in our schools has been undermined by: the political meddling of Congress, chronic under funding, low expectations and shocking disregard for our children.

This has set the stage for privatization of our school system -- in the form of 51 new charter schools and vouchers. The privatizers would have us believe that our only choice is between an overwhelmed, decaying traditional public school and unaccountable charter schools.  

Join us - parents, students, teachers, school staff, trade unionists, community members – as we share what we've learned about privatization and develop plans together to stop the creation of separate and unequal school systems.  Your voices, talents, and ideas are needed to rebuild our levees and our democracy.
