Please let me begin by introducing myself.  My name is Eileen Drust, and I
am a graduate student in the doctoral program in communication at the
University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky.

I am currently conducting a research project for my dissertation studying
the global justice movement and the news media.  To date, little scholarly
attention has been paid to how news reports on the Seattle WTO protests in
November 1999 may have influenced how organizations and individuals who
were active in the global justice movement viewed themselves and their
purpose after the Seattle protests.

If you or other individuals were a member of Mobilization for Global
Justice when it formed immediately after the Seattle WTO protests in
November 1999 and if you would be willing to participate in this study,
please feel free to contact me either by e mail at eileen.drust at uky.edu or
by telephone at 513.474.0755.

The study will involve a telephone interview at a time convenient to you. 
The interview will last approximately an hour and will consist of
questions relating to the the global justice movement and the media.  A
number of safeguards are planned to maintain confidentiality.
