*"Who has the authority to say someone else is not being a good steward of
the environment?"*

*"Anyone who notices."*

Spill into Washington DC, A Protest Against BP & Big Oil!. *Rally* Saturday
September 4th, 2pm Lafayette park. *Concert* Sunday September 5th, Solar
Powered on the National Mall (Air & Space Museum) 11am-4pm. Featuring
National Speakers & Supporting Artists:

*DC LABOR CHORUS*
*with SHEPHERD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS*
*This is a remarkable ensemble that cuts across generations and races. They
will be singing Pete Seeger's newly written BP Protest song "Countin' on Me,
Countin' on You" directed by Elise Bryant, with music teacher Ken Giles
(guitarist). They will also perform "Solar Carol" a positive environmental
song, and others. They represent the best of what American education is
about, passing on from one group to the next the SONGS OF FREEDOM AND
JUSTICE that moved them as they moved others before them...Odetta, Joan
Baez, Martin Luthor King Jr., Pete Seeger, Paul Robeson, Duke Ellington. The
students learn about "the power of song" and they learn, as we did before
them, that "it is empowering to sing together" for a better world. *

*Pete Seeger's newly reworked Protest song "Countin' on Me, Countin' on You"
*
*"It's time to turn things around, trickle up, not trickle down,*
*God's countin' on me, God's countin' on you.*
*And when 'drill, baby, drill' leads to 'spill, baby, spill'*
*God's countin' on me, God's countin' on you."*

*& special guests -* *Katherine Archer*
As the BP Oil Gusher grew in the Gulf of Mexico, so did singer/songwriter
Katherine Archer's frustration. Rather than sit around feeling totally
helpless, she channeled that angst into her song, BLACK BLACK BLOOD. In her
words, "I felt compelled to help give all those effected by this disaster a
voice."
Katherine is a native Virginian who now resides in St. Augustine, Florida.
Natural Florida is her muse, and the focus of her music is to educate and
inspire people of all ages to take care of our precious planet and all her
divine creatures.
