Sorry about the delay in my response to you email, I just received it. 

I hope you got that the main thrust of my letter to Councilmember Schwartz's 
committee was to focus on the problems at DDOT and lack of District government 
oversight of these types of projects. 

While City Paper, The InTowner and most of our emails have focused on the 
"parking, trees, tree boxes, grass strips, lead pipes, gas lines, water valves, 
and cracked steps" many of your neighbors have contacted me with great outrage 
with the idea that low level workers may have be defrauded tens of thousands 
of dollars. And while our lives in Ward 1 have been adversely effected by Lane 
Construction and KCI's poor planning and work -- they have not kept food off 
our tables To loosely quote Cesar Chavez: The fight is never about grapes or 
lettuce or parking spaces. It is always about > people. 

Our voices of displeasure have been heard through this ListServ --- many of 
your > neighbors (and myself) want to raise the voices of those on the other 
> side of the digital divide, and have District's contractors abide by the law.
