[Mintwood-place] Mintwood Place - Final Update

Hello to all,

We are pleased to announce that the work on Mintwood has been completed.
The final asphalt overlay was layed down yesterday.  There are a few
punchlist items that will be taken care of over the next few weeks.  These
include repair to a few front steps, possible repair to a cracked sidewalk
and the installation of the five trees.  The contractor will also be
returning over the next week to pour mulch into the tree boxes that
currently contain trees.

I would like to thank everyone for your patience and understanding during
this project.  While this was a very frustrating process for all parties
involved, particularly the residents living on Mintwood, it also proved to
be a great learning experience in the importance of communication and
cooperation.  While I realize this does not alleviate any angst you may have
felt during this process, please know that the lessons learned here will be
applied to future construction projects in the city (particularly the use of
listserves for communication).  

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Councilmember Graham and
Councilmember Schwartz for their continued monitoring of this situation.
The council and their staff were most helpful during this process,
particularly Jeff Jennings who assisted me with the additional towing for
the final phase of the project.  I would also like to thank Lt. Gottert who
personally helped me with the additional no parking signs and manpower for
ticketing.

For those residents who still have outstanding questions/issues for DCWASA,
please continue to work with Jodye Russel (jodye.russel at dcwasa.com).  

I have printed out and made a file of all our correspondence since July
2003.  If you  are interested in copies, please let me know and I will
provide them to you.
