Michael,
A couple of days ago you wrote to tell me that my suggestion that you submit your proposal to the next community meeting or at an ANC meeting was a good idea. Why then do you continue to send these emails that do nothing but incite hostility and help to break down any bridges we as a community are attempting to build between us? You have every right to develop new solutions to our present problem, but the manner in which you are carrying out your plan is not constructive.
A couple of weeks ago, you told me the story of how you were able to straighten the flag pole in the park, I called Jim Graham and I said Jim fix the f***ing flag pole and the next day they were out here fixing it. Thats how you get things done around here. With clout like that, you are far more powerful than the rest of us. Why not run with that instead of causing unnecessary trouble.
Also I am sorry that John upset you and it seems that he hurt your feelings with his condescending e-mail, but I want to tell you what I told my six-year-old a couple of years ago, That boy is not the only kid in the playground. He has issues. Dont make his problem your problem. John is not the Community Garden. There are many others who use that space as there have been many before them. When I read your e-mails I picture the Rockefellers and Vanderbilts on their knees planting tomatoes. The gardeners are people just like you and me. If you would present your proposal and work within the system you would meet them and hopefully appreciate their point of view. They are another subgroup within our community of the park. They want to go back to the earth, feeling the dirt between their fingers and connect with a comfort zone we all desire just as our friends with dogs wish to feel that wonderful feeling of having companionship. This is the same emotion that I feel when I
see my son run free in the park as I did as a boy. This should not be denied to any human being.
By the way, I'm still waiting for your reply to my question of why Saturdays meeting was bias. Its interesting that you have no problem writing long e-mails that create a situation of discontent, but are unable to put two words together when it comes to improving our understanding of one another.
