[Mintwood-place] Sirens

I don't if anyone has ever discussed the issue of sirens before, but I was wondering if anyone has noticed how loud and frequent sirens are in DC.  I'm always surprised when I go to cities with far bigger populations (NY, Chicago), how quiet they are, at least when it comes to sirens.  Why is it so loud here, anyone know?
