Dear Friends:
I'm sure many people were inconvenienced by a MPD blockade of 16th St, NW
today. I want you to have an explanation.
MPD received a call from someone claiming to have a gun this afternoon on
the 2400 block of 16th St, NW. He threatened to shoot the police when they
arrived.
MPD immediately responded, canvassed the block and secured the area by
re-routing traffic. No one was found with a gun and the call is now being
investigated.
This was a high priority call that required a serious response for the
safety of our community.
Bests,
Councilmember Jim Graham
