Information is now available because the juvenile defendant has been charged
as an adult.



Antonio Michael Richardson of 907 Emerson St, NW was arrested Monday morning
by the Metro Transit Police Department.  He is being charged with five armed
robberies at the Columbia Heights Metro Station.



Cameras at the station had a visual that led to his arrest.



Congratulations to the Metro Transit Police and MPD, who also played a key
role, for their fine police work.

Dear Friends:



Last Friday, I requested action by MPD and the Metro Transit Police
Department (MTPD) to address the recent robberies at the Columbia Heights
Metrorail station.

Investigation by MTPD detectives has led to the identification of a suspect,
who was arrested this morning. The suspect has been implicated in all of the
recent robberies at the station and remains in custody.



Though a juvenile, he will be charged as an adult. MTPD detectives have been
in contact with MPD detectives to determine whether this suspect is involved
in additional robberies in the Columbia Heights neighborhood. Typically,
there is a pattern that comes to an end with an arrest such as this.



I'm sure you share my sense of relief that this arrest has been made, and we
can all hope that life will return to normal for Metro customers and other
Columbia Heights residents.
