Very unacceptable. I am asking Cmdr Anzallo, for his response. He heads up detectives. Bests Jim

Hi Jim,
I was sitting on my roof deck which faces Kalorama Park when the shot went off. It seemed really close. I'm at 1858 Mintwood Place, NW. Anyway, I thought maybe it was a car crash and heard the sirens afterwards. This morning I heard on the radio it was a shooting.
I'd like to tell the police...
Not long after I heard the apparent shot, I saw a white male on the north end of the park on the East/West path hurriedly walking towards Columbia. He was 20 to 40 years of age, wearing black sweatshirt. I saw him from the side, and at pretty far a distance. If the shooter is the guy I saw I don't think I could accurately pick him out of line up.
But...
I called 3rd District. The detectives voice mail is full and there is no way to communicate with them. The main desk won't take a message either. What's up with that?
Anyway, I'm glad to hear no one died. Sounds less nefarious now.
SO what are out of town students doing with guns! We got to get the word out that this is still a gun free town.
Thanks for the update,
Adam Eidinger

Dear Friends, to amplify the messages already recorded on this crime, MPD's preliminary investigation indicates that this is not a robbery, but an argument that began on Connecticut Avenue. Police also say that there is no evidence of any relationship to the entertainment area on 18th Street.
The two men knew each other. Both appeared to be students at the University of Texas. (The victim had such an ID).
According to MPD---Before being taken to the hospital, the victim referred to the shooter as his "friend", and identified him. So there is an identified "person of interest" who police are now seeking for questioning.
The victim is expected to recover.
More information as it becomes available. The cooperation from various witnesses with MPD is very much appreciated. So is the prompt response of the police to the crime scene.
Please pass on to others who may be interested.
