It was my understanding that the park picnic table would have to be moved in order to finish the construction of the multi-use children's playing field. The table would would then be moved back near the original location.
The concrete picnic table was disassembled with great care. The heavy concrete table top was supported with steel beams while the interconnected concrete support legs were carefully sandwiched between plywood. All the table components were moved inside a fenced off area near in the park, near the Mintwood carriage house. Eddie

Subject: [Mintwood-place] Ward One Demo Debate Kalorama Park scorecard
My point about the Mintwood project was that procurements of contracts in DC is a huge problem, they are often fraught with negligence of oversight from the agencies --- such as DPR's contractor The Temple Group or DDOT's contractor Fort Meyer--- contractors often violate the terms of the contract and little or nothing is done to penalize them for shddy or illegal performance.
With that said I was happy to see that DPR acknowledged today that the contractor at Kalorama Park has violated terms of the contract by removing the picnic table. Good times.
Bryan
>From DPR to Contractor:
"Your Daily Report for Thursday May 27 notes that the picnic table has been moved. You are in violation of your contract. See Scope:
Contractor shall field-confirm ALL table locations with COTR prior to proceeding with any table move.
Contractor shall not perform any table relocation work whatsoever unless COTR is on site.
Contractor shall be responsible for any and all damage to picnic table."
